Reduce Documentation Burden, Increase Time for Care AI in Long Term Care

Long-term care leaders across Canada face increasing documentation requirements, workforce pressures, and growing expectations for quality, compliance, and resident-centred care. At Isabel & Arthur Meighen Manor, like many long-term care homes, clinical documentation requires clinicians to spend significant time* gathering information, reviewing resident history, and completing notes across multiple disconnected processes. Documentation is often completed after resident visits rather than at the point of care, resulting in delays, duplicate effort, and inconsistent records. Manual information gathering and reconciliation can reduce time available for direct resident care, create administrative burden, and make it more difficult for care teams to access the information they need when making clinical decisions. Join Monica Klein-Nouri, Executive Director, and Faith Impelido, Registered Dietitian, from The Salvation Army’s Isabel & Arthur Meighen Manor as they share their journey to modernize clinical documentation in partnership with GlobalDWS. Starting with a clinician-led workflow assessment, the team implemented AI-assisted documentation solutions that support more timely, complete, and consistent resident records while reducing administrative burden and freeing up time for enhanced engagement with residents. During this session, the panel will share: How Meighen Health evaluated and implemented AI for clinical documentation Lessons learned including clinician-led design and a phased adoption strategy Practical approaches to reducing administrative burden while supporting care quality Initial outcomes and opportunities for future integration and automation How LTC organizations can build a roadmap for responsible AI adoption After the presentation and demo, Rami Wehbe, GlobalDWS CEO/CTO and Lee St James, VP Sales, will host an interactive Q&A session. NOTE: According to the 2024 Canada Health Infoway National Physician Survey: - 51% of physicians spend more than 2 hours per day on EMRs after hours - 65% describe their after-hours EMR workload as excessive or moderately high GlobalDWS offers systems integration solutions, advisory and training support to address these challenges, reducing documentation burden and increasing time for resident care.
